Alto & Soprano saxophonist and bandleader, Jaleel Shaw is a longtime member of the Roy Haynes Quartet as well as Tom Harrell’s Colors Of A Dream group. He has performed with Christian McBride, Jason Moran, the Mingus Big Band, Pat Metheny, Stefon Harris, Roy Hargrove, Chick Corea, Dave Holland, Nate Smith and Jimmy Cobb. among others. In 2014, he won Downbeat Critics Poll's for Rising Star Alto Saxophonist.
On Saturday, February 10 Jaleel makes a rare DC appearance at Takoma Station presented by Marc Cary, who will be on keyboard, with Obasi Akoto on bass and Joe Palmer on drums.
Throughout his career, Jaleel Shaw has received critical acclaim for his contributions to the genre. His performances are marked by a combination of technical brilliance, emotional depth, and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of jazz.
