About the Event
Obasi Akoto presents Robin Eubanks at Takoma Station.
We are extremely honored to host trombonist Robin Eubanks, brother of guitarist Kevin Eubanks and trumpeter Duane Eubanks, this Saturday night. This gifted musician grew up in an intensely musical family and has played with a long list of jazz greats, including Slide Hampton, Sun Ra, Geri Allen, Sonny Fortune, Steve Coleman, Joe Henderson, Betty Carter, Elvin Jones, and Steve Turre, as well as Barbara Streisand, Stevie Wonder, B.B. King and the Talking Heads. He was the music director for drummer Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and for 30 years he has received raves for his contributions to the Dave Holland Quintet and Big Band. Robin is also a long-time educator and has taught at the Berklee College of Music, the New England Conservatory and the Oberlin Conservatory. The band on Saturday will include Janelle Gill on keyboard, Obasi Akoto on bass and Jo Palmer on drums.
